The new TATA Safari, formerly showcased as the ‘Gravitas’, is set to launch in India tomorrow. The SUV was first presented at the 2020 Auto Expo. Bookings for the model are already underway across the country.
TATA Safari is heavily based on the Harrier but with expanded features.
TATA Safari 2021 Design & Engine
Although the new Safari is a three-row SUV based on the Harrier, it has made some distinctions to establish an individual look. It comes with TATA’s tri-arrow grille, a stepped roof, an upright tailgate, and a redesigned bumper.
The SUV is available in both 6 & 7 seater versions. The 7 seater offers bench-type seats with adjustable headrests. When compared to the Harrier, the 3-row SUV is longer and taller than the Harrier by 63mm and 80mm, respectively.
2021 Tata Safari comes with a standard of a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine packed with a max power output of 170bhp and 350 Nm of peak torque. They are sourcing a six-speed manual or a six-speed torque converter automatic transmission from Hyundai to pair with it.
Colours & Variants
TATA Safari 2021 is expected to offer colour options that will include the Harrier’s red, white, and silver paint schemes in addition to the new dark blue and light blue shades.
The SUV is said to be available in 4 different Variants: XE, XM, XT & XZ.
Interior & Features
The interior comes with a dual-tone trim in a black-creme colour scheme. The roof height has been raised, the rear is more spacious.
It also has roof rails and a full rear-quarter glass.The company has announced that it will have an Oyster White theme.
The variants XT and XZ will be available with factory-fitted Panoramic sunroof (Tilt/Roll/Glass, Express Open, Anti-Pinch, Rain Sensor, Slide open & close.)
iRA connected car features with Airtel & BSNL e-sims, Xenon HID projector headlamps, subwoofer, ambient lighting & a USB charger.
Usable roof rails with 75kg load capacity, reverse parking sensors, electronic parking brake with auto-hold function, automatic vehicle hold (AVH), etc.
TATA Safari 2021 Price
The price of the 2021 TATA Safari is expected to range between ₹ 15 lakh and ₹ 21 lakh.
Taking into account Harrier’s ₹ 13.48 lakh – ₹ 20.30 lakh price range.
The 2021 TATA Safari is most likely to be rivaled by MG Hector Plus and Mahindra XUV500.
Although the soon to be launched Hyundai’s 7-seater Creta is shaping up to be a worthy competitor.
The SUV is equipped with ABS with EBD, off-road ABS, hill descent control, hill hold control, cornering stability control, dynamic wheel torque by brake, traction control, roll-over mitigation, Electronic stability control (ESC), HFC (Hydraulic Fading Compensation), HBA (Hydraulic Brake Assist), EBP (Electronic Brake Pre-fill) & EDTC (Engine Drag Torque Control).
